Aztec Basketball Starts 2009-10 Schedule With Home Exhibition Game Friday

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's basketball team, which is receiving votes in both preseason national top 25 polls, will play host to Point Loma Nazarene on Friday at 7 p.m. at Viejas Arena for its only exhibition game prior to the official start of the 2009-10 campaign. Tickets begin at just $4 for general admission seating.
The Aztecs and Sea Lions will be meeting for the first time in the two programs' history. Point Loma Nazarene enters the year ranked fourth in the nation in the preseason NAIA top 25 poll and returns four starters from its 2008-09 team went 27-7 overall and ended up fifth at the NAIA championships.
San Diego State returns four starters from its 2008-09 squad that advanced to the NCAA second round, earned a share of the Mountain West Conference regular season title and posted a 24-8 overall record. The Aztecs have been picked to win the MWC this season under head coach Beth Burns, who enters her fifth year of her second stint at SDSU.
Live stats will be available for Friday's exhibition game. Most regular-season SDSU women's basketball contests will have live audio and video (home games only) on the internet free of charge via the school's official website, www.goaztecs.com.

San Diego State's official season opener is a week from Friday, Nov. 13, when the team travels to UC Irvine for a 5 p.m. contest at the Bren Events Center.
