Courtney Clements Named MW Player of the Week

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's basketball guard Courtney Clements has earned Mountain West Players of the Week honor, the league office announced Monday. It is her first weekly honor of her career.
Clements led the Aztecs to a 3-1 start and earned Most Valuable Player honors at the Jack in the Box Rainbow Wahine Classic over the weekend. For the week, Clements averaged 21.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game. She shot .536 (30-for-56) from the field, including a .522 (12-for-23) mark from three-point range, and .813 (13-for-16) from the free-throw line.
Clements scored 21 points and grabbed three rebounds in an 86-43 win against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 14. Then, in an 82-74 upset of No. 18/18 DePaul on Friday, the Long Beach, Calif., opened the Hawai'i tournament with 25 points and a career-high eight rebounds. She followed that performance with 18 points and two rebounds in Saturday's 71-44 win against host Hawai'i in playing only . Then, in Sunday's 59-58 loss against Portland, Clements had 21 points and made a career-high five three-pointers. Despite the loss, the Aztecs still claimed the tournament's first-place trophy.
San Diego State's next opponent will be Washington on Saturday, Nov. 26 at Viejas Arena. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. PT and will be televised live on Channel 4 San Diego and will be shown on tape delay on The Mtn. With the 3-1 start, SDSU garnered 13 votes in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, released on Monday.
