Dec. 3, 2012
SAN DIEGO - San Diego State guard Courtney Clements (Long Beach, Calif.) has been selected as the Mountain West Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday. With her award, the Aztec senior earned the fifth MW weekly honor of her career and second straight this season.
Clements helped SDSU to a convincing 80-46 victory over USC at home last Friday after pouring in a game-high 25 points on 10-of-23 shooting (43.5 percent), including a trio of 3-pointers. She also tied her season high with six rebounds to go along with two assists, one block and a steal.
The Aztecs trailed USC, 7-4, in the first half before Clements tallied seven straight points in a span of 1:39 to put the Scarlet and Black in front for good. With her performance, Clements has reached the 25-point barrier in three of the last four games, with SDSU posting a 3-0 record in those outings.
For the season, Clements leads the MW with an average of 18.8 points per game and is tied for the top spot in 3-point field goals made with 2.5 per game.
The Aztecs (4-2) return to the court on Wednesday, Dec. 5, when they travel to the Pacific Northwest to face Washington beginning at 7 p.m.
