Aztec Women's Hoops Plays Host To Four-Team San Diego Surf `N Slam Classic

-Webcast/Live Video: Bill Earley (play-by-play) and Tammy Blackburn (analysis) will have the live audio broadcast of the SDSU game on www.goaztecs.com. A live video feed will also be available via the Aztecs' official website for all of the San Diego Surf `N Slam Classic contests.
-The Records: The San Diego State women's basketball team rounds out its 2006-07 non-conference schedule by playing host to the four-team San Diego Surf `N Slam Classic, Dec. 28 and 30, at Cox Arena. The tournament, sponsored by Basketball Travelers, Inc., is in its second season and includes a pair of top-25 teams in No. 11/10 Georgia and No. 17/16 George Washington, along with SDSU and Brown. The Aztecs, who have won five straight, take on Brown at 2 p.m., followed by the Georgia-George Washington game at 4 p.m. on Dec. 28. The winners will meet in the championship game on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m., which comes after the consolation game at 2 p.m.
SDSU is a week removed from its most recent outing, a 64-53 victory over Pepperdine on Dec. 21, which improved its record to 6-3 overall, already doubling its win total from last season. Brown, meanwhile, has been out of action since Dec. 6, and is 2-8 heading into this weekend's action.
-SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the second year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 241-175 in 15 seasons, while she is 160-110 in 10 campaigns at SDSU.
-Brown Head Coach Jean Marie Burr: Jean Marie Burr is in her 19th season at Brown and has a school and career record of 263-226.
-Brown Series History: Brown and San Diego State meet for the second time in a regular season non-conference tournament. The Bears won the only previous meeting in 2003 at the Lady Blazer Invitational at UAB. (Last: Brown def. SDSU,57-49, on Dec. 30, 2003, in Birmingham, Ala.).
