SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State rowing team will compete in its third dual meet of the season on Friday as it faces crosstown foe, UC San Diego. The race will consist of five events and will take place on Mission Bay in San Diego.

The first event of the day will get underway at 7:20 am with the first varsity eight crews taking to the water. They will be followed by the novice eight boats at 7:30 am. Ten minutes later, at 7:40 am, the second varsity eight will duel. The open four race will leave the starting mark at 7:50 am followed closely by the final event of the day, the varsity four, at 8 am.

The race course will start just east of the south Ingraham Street bridge, adjacent to Dana Landing and Sea World Marina and will be approximately 1900-meters long. The races will run to the east in the Sea World channel and end at the blue pavilion in the Rose Marie Stearns South Shores Park. Spectating is available from the park. Take South Shores Drive off of Sea World Drive. Parking is free.

The UCSD varsity eight finished third at the 2013 NCAA Division II Women's Rowing Championships. The Tritons are coming off of an appearance at the Sacramento State Invitational on Lake Natoma.

Following Friday's races, San Diego State will hold a boat dedication ceremony on Saturday, March 29 at 9:30 am after the team's morning practice. The newest shell is to be named the Martha Shumaker in honor of the now-retired executive director of the San Diego Crew Classic.
