Aztec Rowers Earn AAC All-Academic Honors
Aug. 18, 2016
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The San Diego State rowing team had 31 student-athletes earn all-academic honors from the American Athletic Conference for the 2015-16 season, the league announced Thursday.
Nominations for the AAC all-academic team are submitted by each of the conference's member institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a candidate must have competed in an AAC-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
San Diego State completed its second season in the American Athletic Conference, finishing fifth in the team standings at the league's championship regatta last May, with Stephanie Schulman (first team) and Christa Carrillo (second team) receiving all-conference recognition.
Also highlighting the Aztecs' 2015-16 campaign was a sweep by the varsity eight at the Sacramento State triple dual weekend in March. With its performance, the SDSU varsity eight was selected as the AAC Boat of the Week, the first such honor for the program.
