SDSU Women's Crew Records Two Wins This Past Weekend

The San Diego State women's crew team made its 1999 west coast season opener with wins at the Head of the American, held in Sacramento, Calif., and Head of the Estuary, held in Oakland, Calif., this past weekend.

The Aztecs did real well at the Head of the American, winning the women's open eight with a time of 17:07, finishing 39 seconds ahead of Stanford. SDSU also competed in the women's open four, placing fifth out of 18 teams with a time of 19:38.

On Sunday, SDSU captured the women's open eight at the Head of the Estuary. The Aztecs raced to a final time of 20:16.54, finishing ahead of the University of California, who placed third at last year's NCAA Championships. SDSU fielded a team in the women's open four and placed third with a time of 24:33.

San Diego State will be in Irvine, Calif., this weekend (Nov. 6-7) to compete at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival.
