SDSU Women's Crew To Hold Row-A-Thon `99

Nov. 17, 1999

San Diego -

The San Diego State women's crew team will hold a row-a-thon fundraiser on Saturday (Nov. 20) outside the Reuben H. Fleet Space Theater at Balboa Park in commemorating Olympic Spirit Day. All proceeds will go towards the SDSU women's crew program.

The women's rowing team will attempt to row one million meters on the rowing ergometers in an effort to raise funds. Due to budgetary measures, the rowing program at SDSU is generating finances through various fundraisers this season. Pledges and donations of any amount are encouraged and appreciated by the women's crew program.

Now in its second season as a Division I athletic program, the Aztecs are off to a fine start in 1999-2000. After finishing 18th in the nation last season, SDSU has gone on to win three regattas in the fall. Their most recent win happened this past weekend at the San Diego Fall Crew Classic at Mission Bay.

The fundraiser begins at 7 a.m. and it's estimated that the one million meter mark will be reached at 4 p.m.

For more information regarding the SDSU row-a-thon to one million meters, please contact Scott Steckel or Kevin Waldick in the SDSU crew offices at 619-594-0650.
