RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - San Diego State women's golfer Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) took over sole possession of first place on the individual leaderboard Tuesday after firing a 3-under par 69 during the second round of the SDSU Farms Invitational at The Farms Golf Club.

Despite two bogeys on the back nine, Henrikson logged her second consecutive sub-70 score, draining five birdies overall, including an impressive make on the par-4, 356-yard 15th, which played as the second-toughest hole Tuesday. With her performance, the Aztec sophomore completed the second round with a combined total of 7-under 137, grabbing a three-shot lead over the Stanford duo of Casey Danielson (-4) and Lauren Kim (-4), while Alison Lee of UCLA (-3) occupies the fourth position in the field of 93 players.

As a team, SDSU slipped two places into fifth out of 17 schools at 8-over 584 after posting its second straight 292 on the challenging par-72, 6,237-yard course layout. With their total, the Aztecs now trail USC (+3) and Arizona State (+3) by five strokes for the third place, while UCLA (-5) and Stanford (-1) own the top two spots heading into Wednesday's final round.

SDSU's second-best round of the day belonged to Maria Fernanda Villegas (Ensenada, Mexico), who recorded a season-low 73. The Aztec freshman was 2-under on the front nine after sinking a pair of birdies at No. 3 and No. 8; however, four bogeys over her first seven holes after the turn stifled a monumental advance up the leaderboard. Despite the hiccup, Villegas still managed to jump seven spots into a tie for 28th at 5-over 149.

On the flip side, Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.) tumbled nine places into a tie for 20th at 3-over 147 after shooting a 74 on Tuesday. The SDSU junior fought her way back to even-par following back-to-back birdies on the 11th and 12th, but a double-bogey at No. 15, her second of the day, sandbagged her round.

In addition, Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) experienced a nearly identical fate, dropping from the 28th position into a tie for 39th at 7-over 151. The Aztec freshman was just 1-over halfway through her round, but had to settle for a 76 for the day after suffering four bogeys on the back nine.

Rounding out the SDSU starting five was junior Kristina Lynn (Carlsbad, Calif.), who finds herself in 78th at 19-over 163 after struggling with an 86 in the second round.

The Scarlet and Black was also represented by a pair of individual competitors as junior Amy Alston (Mission Viejo, Calif.) finished the day in a tie for 54th at 13-over 157 following a second-round 78, while senior Maureen Dunnagan (Lexington S.C.) landed in the 82nd position at 21-over 165 after posting an 81.

The second annual SDSU Farms Invitational concludes on Wednesday, with the Aztecs scheduled to tee off alongside Arizona State and California on hole No. 1, beginning at 8:24 a.m. PT.
