RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Playing in its lone home tournament of the season, the 45th-ranked San Diego State women's golf team maintained its fifth-place standing on Wednesday after carding a collective 17-over par 305 during the final round of the SDSU Farms Invitational at The Farms Golf Club.

In an elite field, the Aztecs completed the three-day event with a collective score of 25-over 889, finishing eight shots behind fourth-place Arizona State (+17), while USC (-3) captured the team title for the second year in a row, topping UCLA (E) and Stanford (E), both of which tied for the runner-up spot on the par-72, 6,237-yard course layout,

Individually, Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) was SDSU's top finisher for the tournament, landing in a six-way tie for fifth at 1-over 217 despite shooting an uncharacteristic 80 during the final round. The Aztec sophomore owned a three-stroke advantage atop the leaderboard entering the day and looked to extend her lead following a birdie on the opening hole. However, an untimely quadruple-bogey on the par-5, 519-yard No. 3 knocked her out of the top spot. Following a bogey on the ensuing hole, Henrikson regrouped with four pars and birdie, but three additional bogeys and a double-bogey at 15 quashed her comeback efforts. Despite the stumble, Henrikson still posted her highest finish of the year and second-best on The Mesa.

With blustery conditions descending upon the challenging course, SDSU's lowest score of the day belonged to Maria Fernanda Villegas (Ensenada, Mexico), who shot a final-round 75 to finish the week with a season-best 8-over 224. The Aztec freshman tallied 14 pars and four bogeys after making birdie on the first hole, climb one spot into the 27th position, just a single stroke behind teammate Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.).

Spiranac tied for 24th with a collective 7-over 223 after posting a 76 on Wednesday. The SDSU junior was able to shake off an early double-bogey at No. 3, draining three birdies over her next seven holes to get back to even-par for the round. However, four birdies on the back nine stonewalled her advance into the top-20.

In addition, Sirene Blair (South Jordan, Utah) logged her second consecutive 76 as well during the final 18 holes. The Aztec freshman played steady if unspectacular golf, notching 15 pars for the day, but two bogeys and a double-bogey on No. 13 prevented any upward mobility. With her round, Blair remained in the 39th position at 11-over 227.

Meanwhile, Kristina Lynn (Carlsbad, Calif.) figured into SDSU's final team score after logging a final-round 78. The Aztec junior was 7-over through 13 holes before finishing strong with two birdies and two pars down the stretch to finish in a tie for 75th at 241.

The Scarlet and Black also fielded two individual competitors this week, with junior Amy Alston tying for 52nd with a combined 17-over 233 following a 76 on Wednesday, while senior Maureen Dunnagan (Lexington, S.C.), recorded her best round of the tournament with a 79 to finish in a tie for 83rd at 244.

In addition to its team championship, USC boasted the individual winner as Karen Chung (-8) shot a tournament-low 66 to claim medalist honors by two shots over Stanford's Lauren Kim (-6).

San Diego State will have the next two weeks off before returning to action for the inaugural Silverado Showdown, April 14-15, in Napa, Calif.
