SDSU Finishes Eighth at Oregon Duck Invitational

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's golf team finished in eighth place with a final score of 947 (+83) Tuesday at the 16-team Oregon Duck Invitational. The Aztecs ended 29 strokes behind tournament champion San Jose State, at the par-72, 6,191-yard Emerald Valley Golf Course in Creswell, Ore. The Spartans edged out Oregon State by one stroke.
SDSU had one player place in the top 15 and two golfers in the top 20 of the 85-person field. Sophomore Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) ended the tournament in a tie for 14th, as she fired a 16-over 232. Senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) didn't finish far behind, carding an 18-over 234, good for a 17th place tie. Booth and Mulhaupt both shot final round scores of 80.
Aztec freshman Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) tied for 30th with a 22-over 238. Kamimura also led the field in par three scoring, shooting a combined two under par for the tournament (2.83 avg). Junior Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.), after carding scores in the mid-80's in the first two rounds, came back in the third round and fired a 75, pushing herself to a 39th place finish. Freshman Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) also competed for SDSU's starting five and ended the tournament in 70th.
USF's Jessica Potter and Washington State's Anastasia Kostina each took home a share of the individual crown with a 5-over 221 score.
The rest of Monday's second round was finished Tuesday, an hour before the original shotgun start time of 8:30 a.m. SDSU ended round two in ninth place with a score of 633. San Jose State was the overall leader after two rounds as well, ending with a score of 612, three strokes better than second place Oregon State.
