RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - San Diego State senior Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) fired a 2-over 74 on Monday to lead the Aztec women's golf team during the second round of the inaugural SDSU Farms Invitational at The Farms Golf Course. As a team, the Aztecs slipped one notch into 10th place after shooting a combined 316 for a two-day total of 51-over 627 on the par-72, 6,211-yard track.

Wong matched her second-lowest score of the spring season, which featured two birdies on the back nine, to climb seven spots into a five-way tie for 18th place out of 84 golfers at 7-over 151.

Conversely, freshman Emma Henrikson (Malmö, Sweden) and sophomore transfer Paige Spiranac (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who were tied for 19th after the first round, both experienced a reversal of fortune on Monday to fall out of the top 20. Despite draining a pair of birdies, Henrikson was undone by three bogeys and pair of triple-bogeys, slipping into a tie for 33rd at 11-over 155 after carding a 79. Spiranac, meanwhile, suffered a more precipitous drop, plunging into a tie for 41st following a second-round 81, which was marred by three double-bogeys.

Similarly, sophomore Kristina Lynn (Carlsbad, Calif.) tumbled eight spots into a tie for 63rd at 21-over 165 after recording an 82 on Monday. Despite finishing with two pars and a birdie on her final three holes, Lynn was unable to overcome a slow start with seven bogeys on the front nine.

Rounding out the SDSU starting five was sophomore Amy Alston (Mission Viejo, Calif.), who fired a second-round 82 to jump five places into a tie for 72nd at 26-over 170. After struggling with three straight double-bogeys on her final three holes of the front nine, Alston shot even-par the rest of the way, highlighted by a team-high four birdies.

Two individual golfers also saw action for the Scarlet and Black, as junior Maureen Dunnagan (Lexington, S.C.) posted an 84 to tie for 66th at 22-over 166, while fellow classmate Rebecca Schneider (Cave Creek, Ariz.) shot an 88 to wind up in the 80th with a collective 31-over 175.

USC (+11) maintained its perch atop the team standings after extending its lead to 13 shots over second-place UNLV (+24), while Pepperdine (+28), Arizona (+28) and Texas (+33) comprise the remainder of the top five.

Sophia Popov of USC (-1) rocketed to the top of the individual leaderboard on Monday after carding a tournament-low 69 to take a two-stroke lead over Northwestern's Kaitlin Park (+1), while Liv Cheng of Pepperdine (+2) and Long Beach State's Shawnee Martinez (+3) remain in contention, along with Desiree Dubreuil of Texas (+4), Arizona's Manon Gidali (+4) and Kyung Kim (+4) and Annie Park (+4) of USC.

The Aztecs look to regroup on Tuesday in their last tune-up before the Mountain West championships at the end of the month, as the SDSU Farms Invitational concludes with final-round action, beginning at 7:30 a.m. PT. The Scarlet and Black are slated to tee off at that time with New Mexico and Long Beach State on the No. 10 hole.
