Two Aztecs Finish In Top 10 In 2012 Fall Finale

SDSU had two players finish in the individual top 10 in the 96-golfer field. The team was led by senior Christine Wong, who landed in a three-way tie for sixth place at 5-over 221. Wong carded her second 73 of the tournament in the final 18 holes, including an eagle on hole number two.
Freshman Emma Henrikson had her best round on Tuesday, including three birdies, to shoot a 1-under 71. The Malmo, Sweden, native would finish in a five-way tie for ninth place with a 222.
Junior Maureen Dunnagan would be the next Aztec golfer on the leaderboard, finishing in a four-way tie for the 69th position with a 238. Dunnagan tallied an 11-over 83 on the final day of competition.
Sophomore Amy Alston dropped from a tie for 67th to a tie for 80th with a 241. Alston had her second-best round of the tournament by scoring a 10-over 82.
Junior Rebecca Schneider shot her third consecutive 83 on day three of play to finish with a 249. Schneider would finish in a tie for 92nd place.
Competing as an individual, sophomore Kristina Lynn would finish in a tie for 80th with SDSU teammate Alston with a 241. Shooting her best round of the tournament, Lynn would score a 4-over 76.
Indiana claimed the team title by three strokes with a 30-over 894. Mississippi State's Ally McDonald and Indiana's Elizabeth Tong tied for the top individual spot with a three-day total 2-under 214.
San Diego State will be out of action until 2013, when it opens its spring schedule on Feb. 11, at The Gold Rush in Yorba Linda, Calif.
