KAPOLEI, Hawaii - The San Diego State women's golf team ended its 2005 fall campaign Wednesday with a 13th-place finish at the 54-hole Kent Youel Invitational in Kapolei, Hawaii. The Aztecs logged a 328 in the third and final round for a final score of 90-over 954, tying with Oregon State, at the par-72, 6,255-yard Kapolei Golf Course. Ninth-ranked USC came away with the team title with a 32-over 896, beating second place and 25th-ranked Stanford by six strokes.

San Diego State senior Heather MacRae (Dunblane, Scotland), who was tied for second after the first round, capped her fall season with an eighth-place finish at 10-over 226 in an elite field of 97 golfers. MacRae posted a team-best 77 in the final 18 holes to put her in a tie in the overall standings with USC's Catalina Marin and Stanford's Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana. Stanford's Kelly Husted easily won the event by nine strokes with a two-day total of 4-under 212.

Aztec freshman Heather Wilson (Chula Vista, Calif.), who carded back-to-back rounds of 75 and 77, was unable to match her day-one performance, finishing with an 85 to tie for 39th at 21-over 237. Another freshman, Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.), tied for 60th with a 243, while sophomore Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) tied for 73rd with a 248.

SDSU went the entire tournament without its fifth golfer, redshirt freshman Megan McLeod (Fallbrook, Calif.), who was forced to withdraw due to injury. McLeod had entered the event with the team's third-best season stroke average of 76.38.

The Aztecs will resume their competitive schedule next year, as they open the 2006 spring season at the Fresno State Invitational at the Copper River Country Club, February 27-28.
