HENDERSON, Nev. - After the first day of the UNLV Spring Invitational, the San Diego State women's golf team found itself in 11th place at the par-72, 6,153-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club in Henderson, Nev.

SDSU senior Heather MacRae (Dunblane, Scotland) led the way for the Aztecs after the first day of the 54-hole, three-day tournament. MacRae shot a 1-over 73 and is tied for 12 with four other golfers on the individual leaderboard.

Four other Aztecs carded sub-80 opening rounds. Senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) and freshman Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) both ended the day shooting 5-over 77 and in a tie for 40th with nine other golfers. Junior Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) shot a 7-over 79 to end the first day in 57th on the leaderboard.

Rounding out the five starters for SDSU was freshman Petra Cole (San Diego Calif.) who finished the day with a score of 81.

Long Beach State ended the day in first, with its top golfer, Kay Hoey, in a tie for first on the individual leaderboard as well.
