OAKMONT, Pa. - San Diego State sophomore Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) concluded her outstanding run at the 2010 U.S. Women's Open Sunday as the No. 2 amateur in the field, tying for 55th place overall at 21-over 305. Wong, playing in her first career major, matched her low 18 of the 72-hole tournament with a final round 4-over 75 at the par-71, 6,598-yard Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa.

Wong finished up the final three holes of her third round early Sunday morning at 7-over 78, but rebounded later in the day with her most consistent 18. She started from the 10th hole and fired five-straight pars, before bogeys on three of the next four. Wong would add birdies on the par-4 second hole and the final hole of the event, the par-5 ninth, the same one she birdied on Saturday morning to make the cut by a single stroke.

The 2010 Mountain West Conference Freshman of the Year carded two birdies, 10 pars, six bogeys and did not have a double bogey for the first time this week in the final round.

Jennifer Johnson (41st place) was the only amateur to end up higher than Wong, while the other four to even make the cut came in at least four strokes behind her. Paula Creamer won the tournament by four strokes at 3-under 281.

The 2010 U.S. Women's Open was just part of a busy summer for Wong, who finished 17th at the 2010 Ladies' British Open Amateur Championships and won the British Columbia Women's Amateur Championship by a whopping 11 strokes.
