Aztec Women's Golf Adds Palomar College's Jessica Milner For Fall 2010
Dec. 1, 2009
SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's golf head coach Emilee Klein announced the signing Tuesday of Jessica Milner (Newport Beach, Calif./Palomar JC). Milner, who will have two years of eligibility remaining, will join the Aztecs in the fall of 2010.
"Jessica will be a huge asset to our program," Klein said. "She is a strong competitor and has experience at both the Division I and junior college levels, which will make her transition to our team next fall even easier."
Milner spent the past season at Palomar College, where she helped lead the Comets to the team title at the Southern California Community College Championships and a third-place finish at the state tournament in mid-November. Milner was a first-team all-league pick as Palomar posted a 49-stroke victory at the Foothill Conference tournament at the Lake San Marcos Country Club.
Her top finish of the 2009 season came at the Desert Classic in Palm Springs in September, where she placed third out of 90 golfers with a 36-hole score of even-par 144, highlighted by a team season-low 1-under 71.
Milner, who didn't start playing golf until 2004, attended Corona del Mar High School in Orange County, where she was the team's captain and most valuable player as a senior. The Newport Beach, Calif., native was a first-team all-conference choice in 2006, and helped the Sea Kings to an undefeated Pacific Coast League campaign.
After graduating from Corona del Mar High School in June of 2007, Milner attended the University of Colorado, where she was a member of the golf team during the fall of 2008, before later transferring to Palomar College this past spring.
In the summer of 2009, Milner was the runner-up for the President's Cup at the Rhode Island State Amateur Championships and won the women's match-play championship at the Misquamicut Golf Club in Watch Hill, R.I.
The Aztecs, who ended the 2009-10 fall campaign ranked 56th nationally by golfstat.com, will resume their season in 2010, when the team travels to Seal Beach, Calif., for The Gold Rush tournament, Feb. 8-9.
