Feb. 9, 2013
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Lacrosse team held its Red and Black Scrimmage on Saturday at Aztec Lacrosse Field, with the Black team defeating the Red team, 14-7. It's the only exhibition game the Aztecs have before beginning their season on the road against Jacksonville on Feb. 16, beginning at 12 p.m. ET.
Sophomore Madison Formwalt had six goals for the Black team, while sophomore Michaela Jarvis finished with three goals and three assists. The Red team was led by two goals apiece from freshman Andrea Killebrew, junior Isabelle Pickett and freshman Katie Gill. Killebrew also recorded two assists for the Red team, and senior goalkeeper Sammy Slattery had five saves for the Black team in the victory.
The Black team took a 7-5 lead into halftime before outscoring the Red team 7-2 after intermission. A goal by Killebrew off an assist from sophomore Bailey Ewing to start the second half pulled the Red team within one. However, the Black team ended the game with five unanswered points, including three goals from Jarvis, to cruise to the victory.
Following SDSU's game at Jacksonville, the Aztecs face Stetson on Sunday, Feb. 17, before their home opener against Saint Mary's on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. PT.
