Harlowe Steele Named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week
Feb. 12, 2018
WOODLAND, Calif. – San Diego State lacrosse midfielder Harlowe Steele was tabbed Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Offensive Player for her clutch performance in the Aztecs’ dramatic 12-11 victory at California on Sunday. With her award, the SDSU junior garnered the second weekly conference accolade of her career and the Aztecs' first of the season.
A native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, Steele led all players with a career-high four goals in SDSU’s triumph over the Golden Bears, including the game-winner on a free-position attempt with 28 seconds remaining, which lifted the Scarlet and Black to its first season-opening win since 2014. The Aztec tri-captain finished with a .800 shot-on-goal percentage (4-5), converting both of her free-position attempts in the second half.
In addition, Steele assisted on teammate Jill Haight’s second goal late in the first half during a crucial 4-0 run that put SDSU in front 6-5 by intermission. She also collected one ground ball and one draw control on the afternoon.
San Diego State returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 17, when it plays host to Arizona State in its home opener at Aztec Lacrosse Field. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. PT. Admission to all SDSU lacrosse home games is free.
