San Diego State Heads to Wichita State's Shocker Softball Classic
The San Diego State softball team heads to Wichita, Kan., this weekend for Wichita State's four-day Shocker Softball Classic.

The Aztecs (11-7), who are receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and Softball polls, will play host Wichita State at 3:30 p.m. CT Thursday, UMKC (10:30 a.m. CT) and Iowa State (3:30 p.m. CT) on Friday, Northern Illinois at 3:30 p.m. CT Saturday and North Dakota at 10 a.m. CT Sunday.

SDSU's 11-7 record is impressive considering five of those games were against nationally ranked teams and eight versus teams that played in the 2013 NCAA tournament, where San Diego State is 4-4 in those games.

Freshman Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.) leads the Aztecs with a .396 batting average to go along with 11 RBIs, five runs, four doubles, a triple, eight walks and six times hit by pitch, owning an on-base percentage of .532. Senior Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.), meanwhile, is hitting .372 with team highs of 12 runs, seven homers, 16 RBIs, 20 walks, a .907 slugging percentage and a .571 on-base percentage. Senior Katie Mathis (Grass Valley, Calif.) (.314) and sophomore Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.) (.313) are also hitting above .300 for SDSU (min. two at-bats).

Sophomore Danielle O'Toole (Upland, Calif.) has pitched almost 70 percent of the team's innings this year (83.2 IP), going 10-3 with a 1.51 ERA, 74 strikeouts and just 10 walks, limiting the opposition to a .215 average.
