SDSU Softball to Host Seven Games in Five Days
The San Diego State softball team will play host to seven games in five days, beginning Friday with the San Diego Classic II.

The Aztecs (16-7), who are receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and Softball polls, will play UT Arlington (3:30 p.m. PT) and Long Beach State (6 p.m. PT) on Friday, UT Arlington (4:30 p.m. PT) and Harvard (7 p.m. PT) on Saturday, Texas Tech on Sunday (3 p.m. PT) and Harvard (6 p.m. PT) on Monday as part of the San Diego Classic II. SDSU then welcomes Monmouth at 6 p.m. PT Tuesday in a single game.

At 16-7, San Diego State is off to its second-best start in school history, only one game off the 2008 (17-6) squad that went onto finish with a school-record 44 wins and a program-best .721 winning percentage.

The Aztecs, who are up to a .299 batting average as a team, which would be a single-season school record if the year ended today, are led by freshman Sydnee Cable (Huntington Beach, Calif.) (.429, 19 RBI, 8 R, .571 SLG%, .566 OB%) and senior Patrice Jackson (Kansas City, Mo.) (.390, 10 HR, 26 RBI, 18 R, .983 SLG%, .576 OB%). Three others - sophomore Leia Ruiz (Chino, Calif.) (.360, HR, 8 RBI, 11 R), senior Dominique Dinner (Monterey, Calif.) (.324, 9 RBI, 8 R, 9 SB) and senior Katie Mathis (Grass Valley, Calif.) (.306, 6 RBI, 11 R) are hitting over .300 for SDSU.

Sophomore Danielle O'Toole (Upland, Calif.) continues to lead the San Diego State pitching staff, going 12-3 with a 1.37 ERA over 91 2/3 innings. She has 83 strikeouts against 11 walks, while limiting the opposition to a .209 average.
