San Diego State softball head coach Kathy Van Wyk has announced a 56-game schedule for the 2014 spring season.

The Aztecs, who won their second straight Mountain West title last year and sixth overall, will once again play host to three tournaments, including the 24th annual Campbell/Cartier Classic. SDSU also advanced to its school-record sixth consecutive NCAA tournament and seventh in eight seasons in 2013.

SDSU will play 11 games against teams that made the 2013 NCAA tournament, three vs. teams that advanced to the Super Regionals and Tennessee, the NCAA runner-up to Oklahoma at the Women's College World Series.

San Diego State begins its season on the road for the seventh straight year when it travels to Tempe, Ariz., to compete in Arizona State's Kajikawa Classic from Feb. 6-8. Two of the Aztecs' five games at the classic will be against 2013 NCAA tournament teams, including Pac-12 foes Oregon State (Feb. 6) and Stanford (Feb. 7). SDSU also plays Appalachian State (Feb. 6), Cal Poly (Feb. 8) and Seattle Univ. (Feb. 8).

San Diego State opens its home campaign the following weekend with the 24th annual Campbell/Cartier Classic. The Aztecs are slated to play Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 13, South Dakota and NCAA tourney qualifier California on Feb. 14, Texas State on Feb. 15 and Saint Mary's on Feb. 16.

SDSU then takes its talents to the always competitive Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic (formerly the Cathedral City Classic) near Palm Springs, Calif., from Feb. 20-23. San Diego State begins with Fordham (NCAA tournament participant) and Texas A&M (No. 16 overall seed and Super Regional qualifier) on Feb. 20, then meets another Super Regional foe in Missouri on Feb. 21. The Aztecs follow with games vs. perennial Big Ten power Northwestern on Feb. 22 and Big 12's Oklahoma State on Feb. 23.

SDSU returns to America's Finest City the following weekend (Feb. 27-March 1) for the San Diego Classic I, which it co-hosts with San Diego. On the docket for San Diego State at the first San Diego Classic is Brigham Young (NCAA tournament participant) and Tennessee (NCAA runner-up) on Feb. 27, SEC member Ole Miss on Feb. 28 and Pac-12 member Utah on March 1.

The Aztecs wrap up their road tournament schedule at the Wichita State Tourney from March 6-9 in Wichita, Kan. SDSU will play the host Shockers on March 6, UMKC and Iowa State on March 7, Northern Illinois on March 8 and North Dakota on March 9.

San Diego State then plays host to the San Diego Classic II, taking on UT Arlington and Long Beach State on March 14, UT Arlington again and Harvard on March 15, Texas Tech on March 16 and Harvard on March 17.

The Aztecs follow the second Harvard contest with a home game against Monmouth on March 18 before starting Mountain West play with at three-game series at New Mexico from March 21-23.

Following SDSU's final non-conference contest of the season at home against Cal State Northridge on March 26, San Diego State welcomes Nevada for a three-game series from April 4-6.

The Aztecs continue league action from April 11-13 at Fresno State, followed by a three-game home series against MW newcomer Utah State from April 17-19.

SDSU then goes to Las Vegas for a mid-week three-game series with UNLV, beginning with a doubleheader on April 22 and a solo contest on April 23.

San Diego State hosts Colorado State (April 25-27) and then travels to another MW newcomer San Jose State from May 2-4. Last year, the Aztecs won two over the Spartans, including a 5-2 win in an elimination game at the NCAA Tempe Regional.

SDSU closes out the regular season with a three-game homestand against Boise State from May 8-10.

San Diego State finished with a 36-20 record in 2013 and a sixth MW championship.
