SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State swim team came away with a pair of victories in a triple dual meet held Saturday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. The Aztecs took two out of three contests in the meet as they defeated UC San Diego, 140-122, and University of Northern Colorado, 246-54, but fell to Wyoming, 164-136. With the results, SDSU improved to 8-6 overall and 2-6 in the Mountain West Conference.

Diving was contested for three of the schools at the Air Force Diving Invitational in Colorado Springs and those results are included in the final scores.

SDSU's Jeanette Engzell broke the school record in the 200 yard breaststroke with the time of 2:19.13, eclipsing the former mark by .5 seconds. The previous record was set by Courtney Hoblick in 1996-97. Teammate Jessica Morrill took second in that event.

Earlier this season Enzgell set the second best time in the 100 breaststroke in school history, but during Saturday's meet improved on that time, breaking her own record and maintaining the second best time in school history.

In addition, the 400 free relay team of Shaida Solimani, Kyla Power, Alex Peters, and Alexis McCoy swam the ninth-fastest time in SDSU history in that event. All told, Aztec swimmers turned in season-best times in 21 events on the afternoon.

Other winners for San Diego State included Elisabeth Krueger and Allison Hall who took first and second places, respectively, in the 200 yard fly. In the 100 yard fly Brooke Vessey and Krueger took first and second for SDSU.

Other second place finishes for the Aztecs were turned in by the 200 yard medley relay team, Bojana Duric in the 1000 yard free, Alex Peters in the 200 yard free and Elena Karpeeva in the 200 yard backstroke. <

Up next for the Aztecs is the regular-season finale against the University of San Diego. That dual meet is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7, at noon at the USD Sports Center Pool.
