SDSU Completes Season at MWC Championships

OKLAHOMA CITY - The San Diego State swimming and diving team completed the 2004-05 season with an eighth place finish, earning 153 points, at the Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at Oklahoma City Community College.
In the 100-yard freestyle event, sophomore Caitlin Friedhoff set a season-best time of 53.39. Her previous best was 53.49 at the UNLV Invitational in December.
In the following event, senior Jennifer Arrow capped off her collegiate career with a career-best time of 2:22.13 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Her effort put her fifth all-time in school history. Arrow closes out her SDSU career owning the fourth and fifth fastest times in program history.
Team captain Emily Schmied established a season-low time of 2:08.99 in the 200-yard butterfly. Before today, she held the top spot with a time of 2:09.81, a feat she accomplished in the win over Air Force on Nov. 3, 2004.
In the last event of the conference meet, the Aztecs set another season-best, this time in the 400-yard freestyle. The team of Samantha Peters, Tamarah Binek, Schmied and Friedhoff swam a time of 3:34.48 to close out the season.
San Diego State finished the 2004-05 campaign with a record of 5-8 overall and 1-6 in MWC competition.
