San Diego State swimmers turned in seven all-time SDSU top 10 marks and ended the 2012 Arena Invitational in third place as the three-day meet concluded Saturday evening at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif.

The Aztecs completed the Invitational with a total of 908.5 points to finish behind two-time defending national champion California (1168.5) and Arizona State (970), but ahead of 12th-ranked UCLA (850). The third-place finish is SDSU's highest since it began competing in the annual meet in 2009.

Senior Katelyn Weddle provided San Diego State with its second individual first-place finish of the weekend as she captured the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:13.71. Weddle added to the first-place she picked up in the 100 breaststroke on Friday. Teammate Mikaela Macklin added points to SDSU's team score by taking second in the consolation final in 2:17.50.

The Aztecs best showing as a team came in the 1650 freestyle where three Aztecs qualified for the finals. Senior Melanie Garibaldi finished second with a mark of 16:34.77, the second-fastest time in program history. Kelly Marquenie took third in 16:37.64 while Jessica Crider was eighth in 16:47.35.

The 200 backstroke final saw Leona Jennings capture fifrh spot with a time of 1:56.96, just ahead of sixth-place finish Natilee Ruiz, whose 1:57.26 goes into the SDSU all-time top 10 list as the number-two time an Aztec swimmer.

In the 100 freestyle, Meghan Zimmer took top spot in the consolation final with a time of 50.09. That mark goes into the SDSU record book and the second-fastest ever as Zimmer missed tying the school record by a mere .02 second. Also entering the SDSU top 10 list in the event were Maddy Dalcamo (60.85 - fifth) and Savannah Miller (51.38 - eighth).

San Diego State capped off the Invitational by finishing fourth in the 400 freestyle with the second-best time in school history. The quartet of Zimmer, Dalcamo, Jennings and Miller went 3:20.88. In addition, the foursome of Crider, Ruiz, Whitney Weisz and Macklin turned in a clocking of 3:24.95 which qualifies as the seventh-fastest time in program history.
