COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State junior Katelyn Weddle and senior Kristen Meier have been named the Mountain West Swimmer and Diver of the Week respectively for their performances from Jan. 9-15, 2012. For Weddle, it is the first weekly honor of the season and the third of her career. Meier has earned the diving honor five times this season and nine times in her MW career.

The Aztecs picked up three dual wins last week, hosting Tulane on Jan. 10 and on the road in a double-dual meet against Cal State Bakersfield at Fresno State on Jan. 14.

Weddle, from Yuma, Ariz., won three individual events and swam a leg of the winning 200-yard medley relay for the Aztecs last week. Weddle won the 100-yard breaststroke against Tulane in a time of 1:04.92. In the dual meet with Fresno State and Cal State Bakersfield, Weddle won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.25) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:18.20). She also swam the second leg of the 200-yard medley relay in the SDSU winning time of 1:46.13. All three times at Fresno State set pool records.

Meier, from Walden, N.Y., took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events on both days. Against Tulane, Meier won the 1-meter springboard with a score of 306.38 and the 3-meter with a 331.95 mark. She scored a 283.65 on the 1-meter springboard and a 333.30 on the 3-meter at the double-dual meet at Fresno State. All four marks are NCAA Zone qualifying scores.

The Aztecs will conclude their regular season at the end of the month when they host the University of San Diego on Saturday, Jan. 28, at noon at the Aztec Aquaplex. That same weekend (Jan. 27-28), the SDSU divers will be in Colorado Springs to compete in the Air Force Diving Invitational.
