SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State has claimed the 2013-14 CollegeSwimming.com/ Endless Pools Mid-Major Division I Swimming Title. The Mid-Major rankings provide an objective point system to compare non-BCS programs and those that provide fewer than one-half of the allowable scholarships under the NCAA rules.

San Diego State was crowned the women's champion a month after the Aztecs finished second to Boise State at the Mountain West Championships. Boise State ranked third behind defending champion Harvard. The rankings account for teams' top twenty-seven swims.

The rankings don't account for the upcoming NCAA Championships set for this week and next, but the Mid-Majors have already proven they can hang with the best in the land. San Diego State placed 21st in the season's final Endless Pools/CollegeSwimming.com Division I rankings for all teams and SDSU received votes in the latest College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CCSAA) poll as well.

Now in its 12th year, the Mid-Major Rankings serve to provide an objective point system to compare teams that do not benefit from large scale football or basketball conferences or those teams that provide fewer than one-half of the allowable scholarships under the NCAA rules.

The ranking accounts for teams' top performances over the preceding month and is the only objective ranking of swimming for NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and NJCAA.
