Aztecs Send Six Swimmers to NCAA Championships

Senior Mikaela Macklin will compete in three individual events at this week's NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Minneapolis.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - A total of six Aztecs will be in Minneapolis this weekend for the 2014 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. SDSU will be represented in six individual events and three relays over the three days of competition.

Aztecs who will swim in individual events include senior Mikaela Macklin (200 and 400 individual medley, 200 breaststroke) and freshman Anika Apostalon (50 and 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke).

Joining that trio will be the foursome of Chelsea Bailey, Maddy Dalcamo, Natilee Ruiz and Whitney Weisz who will compete in the relay races. The Aztecs will field teams in the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays with the makeup of each of those squads to be determined.

The NCAA Championships get underway on Thursday (March 20) and will run through Saturday (March 22) at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis. Prelims get underway at 11:00 a.m. (MT) each day with the finals sessions scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. (MT) each evening.
