Women's Tennis hosts it's annual Fall Classic Tournament
Nicolas Vinel enters his third season at San Diego State, but first as an assistant coach under head coach Peter Mattera. Vinel spent his first two years as a volunteer assistant coach at SDSU.
In his new role, Vinel will assist in all aspects of running the San Diego State women's tennis program, which will include, but not be limited to, scheduling, recruiting and monitoring academics.
On the court, he will be more involved with practices and will continue what he did as a volunteer, which was assisting with one-on-one drills and with on-court coaching during matches.
During his playing career at Santa Clara University, Vinel was a part of the highest-ranked tennis team in school history during his senior year after making it to the second round of the NCAA tournament following the Broncos victory against No. 15 Texas. In his first season on the team, he received the Colonial Athletic Association Freshman of the Year award and was key in leading the team to win the CAA league championship with a 19-8 record.
Vinel received a bachelor's degree in economics from Santa Clara University.
Vinel is married to the former Kacie Wagner and enjoys sports, music, the beach and hanging out with friends. His favorite athlete is LeBron James.
