SDSU Women's Tennis Defeats LMU, 5-2

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State swept the doubles point and won four of six singles matches against Loyola Marymount to record a 5-2 victory at Aztec Tennis Center Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Aztecs improve to 3-1 on the season and have now won two straight versus the Lions.
In doubles action, the No. 1 duo of Dita Hauerlandova and Sisse Nielsen extended their winning streak to three matches with their 8-5 win over Pavla Mesterova and Robyn Baker. The other two Aztec tandems of Alesya Vidov-Milana Yusupov and Eliska Krausova-Esther Cadua experienced no problems whatsoever as they posted victories of 8-1 and 8-2, respectively.
With a 1-0 lead going into singles, San Diego State received wins at No. 3-6 to secure the victory. Of the Aztecs' four singles wins, all were of the straight sets variety.
Leading the way for SDSU was Krausova, who posted a 6-2, 6-1, victory over Erin Ivey at No. 3. At the following spot, Yusupov pocketed a 7-6, 7-6(15-13) win at No. 4, while sophomore Nielsen was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Maja Sundal at No. 5. Rounding out the lineup was Cadua who turned in a 6-1, 6-2, performance at No. 6 to give the match its final margin.
The 52nd-ranked Aztecs return to action Friday, Feb. 10, when they travel to Berkeley, Calif., for a intrastate match-up with No. 6 California. The contest is set for a 1:30 p.m. PST start.
