No. 52 San Diego State was on the wrong end of a 6-1 score in a neutral-site match vs. 34th-ranked Saint Mary's. The Aztecs, who were playing at Washington's Nordstrom Tennis Center, fall to 2-7 on the season. The Gaels, meanwhile, improve to 4-3.

SDSU's strong doubles performance continued against SMC as it swept all three matches en route to the point.

Julia Wais and Alicia Aguilar were the first tandem off the court after they made quick work of Jenny Jullien and Catherine Leduc, 8-4, at No. 2. Then Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison secured the point when they dismissed Catherine Isip and Elizabeth Searl, 8-6, on court No. 1. The Aztecs made it 3-for-3 when Emma Cioffi and Laura Antonana Iriarte earned a hard-fought 9-7 victory over Carla Lindlar and Anna Chkhikvishvili at the bottom of the doubles ladder.

Singles action, however, was not as kind to SDSU as Saint Mary's claimed all six decisions.

No. 83 Jullien defeated Cioffi at No. 2 in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, and No. 106 Isip brought the Gaels to within a point of the team of the victory with her 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 117 Wais. Jade Frampton provided Saint Mary's with the match clincher after she downed Antonana Iriarte, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3.

San Diego State returns to action on Friday, March 2, when it travels to Long Beach State. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. PT.
