Women's Tennis Falls to No. 75 Louisville

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team dropped its match to No. 75 Louisville, 5-2, on Friday afternoon at Aztec Tennis Center.
SDSU came up short in doubles play to begin the match, as the No. 2 team of sophomore Dora Somoracz (Budapest, Hungary) and junior Hailey Johnson (Fallbrook, Calif.) fell to Elle Stokes and Julia Fellerhoff, 8-3, while the Aztecs duo of senior Laura Antonaña Iriarte (San Sebastián, Spain) and junior Kristin Buth (Kaiserslautern, Germany) lost to Manuela Velasquez and Rebecca Shine, 8-4, on the No. 1 court, as Louisville clinched the doubles point.
In singles action, 37th-ranked Antonaña Iriarte topped Fellerhoff in straight sets in the No. 1 slot, 6-3, 6-3. Antonaña Iriarte, the reigning Mountain West Player of the Week, picked up her third victory in her last four matches.
Buth was topped by Shine, 6-0, 6-2, in No. 2 singles, and Johnson fell to Bodine, 6-1, 6-2, on the No. 6 court. Somoracz was knocked off by Pough, 6-3, 6-4, as the Cardinals clinched the dual-match victory.
Davis dropped her match to Stokes, 6-1, 6-4, in No. 4 singles, but Nguyen earned a three-set victory over Velasquez, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 3 slot.
SDSU (5-9, 0-0 MW) returns to the court on Wednesday, March 19, as it plays host to Harvard beginning at 2 p.m. PT at Aztec Tennis Center.
