Women's Tennis Upsets No. 37 Harvard, 6-1

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team rolled past No. 37 Harvard Wednesday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center, 6-1. The Aztecs snapped a three-match skid and improved to 6-9 on the season.
SDSU started off strong in doubles play with senior Laura Antonaña Iriarte and sophomore Isabelle Hoorn defeating Amy He and Amanda Lin in the No. 3 spot, 8-3. On court No. 2, junior Kristin Buth and freshman Kennedy Davis downed Hannah Morrill and June Lee, 8-3, clinching the doubles point for the Aztecs before sophomore Dora Somoracz and junior Hailey Johnson were edged by No. 64 Spencer Liang and Monica Lin, 8-6, on court No. 1.
San Diego State continued its winning ways in singles action as 37th-ranked Antonaña Iriarte took down No. 107 Spencer Liang in the No. 1 spot, 6-1, 6-1. Davis proved too much for He on court No. 4 as she won the decision, 6-1, 6-3, while Hoorn clinched the victory for the Aztecs by beating Sylvia Li, 6-2, 6-0, in the sixth position. Somoracz strolled past Morrill, 6-4, 6-3, in the No. 5 slot.
Buth had a difficult outing on the fifth court against Lin, taking the match to three sets before eventually falling short of a win, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Earning the final victory of the day for SDSU was sophomore Tami Nguyen as she forced a three-set victory against Lee, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, on court No. 3.
The Aztecs conclude their three-match homestand as they open conference play against Boise State on Tuesday, March 25 at 2 p.m.
