Aztec Women's Tennis Falls To No. 28 TCU

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team was unable to get past No. 28 TCU on Friday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs drop just their fourth match of the season with the loss.
In doubles action, SDSU took the first victory with Esther Cadua and Emma Cioffi defeating Gaby Mastromarino and Maria Babanova, 8-4. In first doubles, Kathryn Kitts and Holly Bagshaw came up short against 23rd-ranked Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska, 8-5. Katariina Tuohimaa and Kayla Duncan clinched the doubles point for TCU by topping Roxanne and Sierra Ellison in second doubles, 9-7.
In singles action, Harkins kept the Horned Frogs on a roll by downing Julia Trunk in first singles, 6-0, 6-4. In fifth singles, Olivia Colman was outpaced by Idunn Hertzberg, 6-4, 6-2. Cioffi was unable to pick up her second win of the day, ultimately falling to Duncan in third singles, 6-4, 6-1. In second singles, Bagshaw dropped a decision to Tuohimaa, 6-2, 7-6. Cadua would pick up her second win on the day by downing Mastromarino in fourth singles, 4-6, 6-4, 10-3. Milana Yusupov would end the day by defeating Babanova in sixth singles, 6-4, 7-6.
San Diego State will continue on in conference play by hosting New Mexico tomorrow at noon.
