SDSU Women's Tennis Completes Day Three at ITA West Regionals

The San Diego State women's tennis team finished day three of the ITA West Regionals with three singles wins on Saturday at Barnes Tennis Center. Milana Yusupov, Esther Cadua and Sierra Ellison all emerged with victories in the round of 32 of their singles draw.

Yusupov was a 6-4, 7-5 winner over Arizona State's Ali Van Horne, while Cadua breezed to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jordan Heitzner of UCLA. Ellison, meanwhile, posted a 6-1 score in the first set of her match with Marigrace Marshall of Pepperdine and then closed the deal with a 6-0 shutout in the second.

In main draw doubles action, SDSU saw both of its teams go down in the round of 16. Holly Bagshaw and Julia Trunk fell to Gabriela Niculescu and Maria Sanchez of USC, 8-3, and Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison were downed 8-4 by ASU's Micaela Hein and Kelcy McKenna.

In other consolation action, Olivia Colman lost a hard-fought battle to UC Santa Barbara's Michelle Murphy, 1-6, 6-3, 10-5, and the duo of Cadua and Yusupov dropped an 8-6 decision to Arizona's Jane Huh and Danielle Steinberg.

The ITA West Regionals continue Sunday at the Barnes Tennis Center.
