Women’s Tennis hosts Point Loma Nazarene
Feb. 4, 2018
SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team continues its six-match home stand Monday when they host Point Loma Nazarene. First serve against the Sea Lions is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Aztec Tennis Center. The Sea Lions opened their spring slate with a road win against UC Irvine, 4-3, on Saturday. Though PLNU plays mostly Division II opponents, the Aztecs are one of a handful of D-I competitors on the team’s schedule this season.
The Aztecs look to add another win to their current 4-1 record Monday against PLNU after a close 4-3 victory over UC Davis Saturday. The Aztecs were led by freshman Abbie Mulbarger and seniors Jana Buth and Paola Diaz in singles against the Aggies, while all three SDSU doubles pairs claimed wins in doubles play.
Mulbarger currently owns a perfect 4-0 singles record this season with wins in the sixth seed over UCSD, UC Irvine, California and UC Davis, while Buth and junior Jenny Moinard are both 4-1 in singles action.
Following Monday afternoon’s dual, the Aztecs host BYU and cross-town foe USD on Saturday, Feb. 10, and Sunday, Feb. 11, respectively. First serve for both matches is set for noon.
