Feb. 9, 2014
SAN DIEGO - The 48th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team will return home to Aztec Tennis Center on Monday to play host to the University of Hawai'i. The Aztecs and Rainbow Wahine showdown will feature first serve at 2 pm. SDSU will look to rebound from a disappointing loss to No. 44 Pepperdine on Saturday.
Hawai'i is coming off a close 4-3 loss to San Diego on Friday. The Rainbow Wahine took an early lead by taking the doubles point but the Toreros proved too much in singles play and ultimately took the decision. With the loss, UH dropped to 2-6 on the season.
Last season, the Aztecs traveled to the Aloha State and came back to the mainland with a 6-1 victory over Hawai'i. San Diego State claimed the doubles point and all but one singles decisions en route to the win.
SDSU will look to recover after two losses in as many days. On Friday the Aztecs concluded a previously postponed match against No. 38 UC Irvine in which they fell short, 4-0. Saturday saw the Scarlett and Black travel to Malibu, Calif., to face 44th-ranked Pepperdine. Despite an impressive victory by senior Laura Antonaña Iriarte, San Diego State fell by a score of 6-1.
