SAN DIEGO - San Diego State returns to the tennis courts this week against No. 61 Long Beach State and Loyola Marymount. SDSU will clash with the 49ers in Long Beach, Calif., on Friday at 2 p.m. PT, before playing host to Loyola Marymount on Sunday at 1 p.m. PT at Aztec Tennis Center.

The Scarlet and Black have struggled this month and are coming off a pair of losses in Seattle. San Diego State nearly upset 29th-ranked Washington, but fell short, 4-3. The next day, the Aztecs returned to Nordstrom Tennis Center only to be defeated, 6-1, by No. 34 Saint Mary's.

SDSU (2-7) enters this week's action not ranked in the latest ITA team poll for the first time all season. The Aztecs' last victory occurred back on Jan. 28 when they defeated UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton by identical 7-0 scores.

Despite its slump, SDSU has continued to receive outstanding play from its doubles tandems. Over the last four matches, the Aztecs have claimed the doubles point three times, which includes a sweep over the Gaels. For the season, San Diego State has taken the early lead six times through nine matches. The Aztecs also claimed the point vs. Hawai'i before rain canceled the match before a winner could be crowned.

San Diego State will arrive at Rhodes Tennis Center on Friday looking for its first win over LBSU since 2005. In 33 previous meetings, the Aztecs have posted a 27-6 record against the 49ers, who enter the non-conference tilt with a 6-3 record after defeating Utah on Feb. 26.

Following its brief trip north, SDSU will return to campus on Sunday and welcome LMU to Montezuma Mesa. The Lions (1-7) will play host to Eastern Michigan on Friday before heading south to San Diego State. The Aztecs have defeated LMU four consecutive seasons and own the all-time series lead, 18-2.
