The Goeppingen, Germany, native opened the Aztecs' road trip in Hawaii with two victories to help her team defeat Xavier, 6-1. Wais teamed with Kristin Buth in second doubles to take down Alex Brinker and Allyson Westling, 8-1. Wais would move on to defeat Katie Pleiman in first singles, 6-1, 6-4.
The second match of the trip would come against host Hawai'i, where Wais would once again post two wins to help SDSU to a 6-1 victory. Again paired with Buth, the duo would down Xenia Suworowa and Rebecca Faltusz, 8-2. In first singles, Wais dismissed her Rainbow Wahine opponent, Katarina Poljakova, 6-2, 6-3.
