SDSU Women's Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season This Weekend

SAN DIEGO - The 56th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team concludes its regular season schedule this weekend when it plays host to three Mountain West Conference rivals on successive days, April 13-15, at Aztec Tennis Center. The Aztecs will square off against No. 27 Brigham Young on Friday, beginning at 2 p.m., followed by a Saturday showdown with Utah, starting at 10 a.m. SDSU then wraps up league play on Sunday with a noon contest against 60th-ranked UNLV as part of Senior Day festivities.
The Aztecs (12-9, 4-1 MWC) have won eight of their last 10 matches, including an inspired 6-1 victory over cross-town rival San Diego on April 10. After capturing a closely contested doubles point against the Toreros, SDSU turned up the heat in singles competition, taking five of six matches to win going away.
Prior to Sunday's encounter with the Lady Rebels, the Aztecs will honor seniors Alesya Vidov and Yuki Hagiwara. Vidov has compiled an 18-14 record so far this season and has 68 career wins in her four seasons on The Mesa. In 2005, the Moscow, Russia, product earned all-MWC recognition in doubles teaming with Dita Hauerlandova. Hagiwara, meanwhile, has posted a 12-12 mark for the Scarlet and Black after transferring from nearby Grossmont College in 2005.
Following this weekend's slate, San Diego State will have 10 days off to gear up for the MWC championships, April 25-28, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
