SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team will face UC San Diego shortly after celebrating Senior Day at 2 pm PT at Aztec Tennis Center on Tuesday. The 48th-ranked Aztecs will hold their final home match of the season as they commemorate the final home match for seniors Julia Wais and Alicia Aguilar. SDSU will also put its nine-match win streak on the line as it faces the Tritons.

UC San Diego is coming off a 8-1 win over Cal State Stanislaus on April 14, with the only match dropped by the Tritons came in first singles. UCSD is 14-6 overall on the season and are in the midst of a four-match win streak. The match on Tuesday will also serve as the final match in San Diego for two Triton players.

Head coach Liz LaPlante is in her 34th year leading the women's tennis program. During her time in La Jolla, LaPlante has recorded an overall 500-227 mark and boats double-digit win totals in all but four of her 33 seasons as head coach. In 2009, LaPlante was honored with the CCAA Coach of the Year award and the ITA West Region Coach of the Year distinction.

SDSU owns the series record against the Tritons, 4-0. The last time the two San Diego schools met came on April 26, 2010. In that match, the Aztecs swept UCSD, 7-0, for the final match of the 2009-10 season for SDSU.

San Diego State will enter Tuesday's match after going 2-0 over the weekend in Las Vegas. The two wins in Sin City add to the Aztecs perfect 5-0 Mountain West record, helping the team hold tight to first place in conference standings. SDSU posted identical 4-3 scores over No. 55 Fresno State and Nevada on Saturday and Sunday. Overall, San Diego State owns a 16-4 record and has not lost a match in the past nine outings, dating back to March 17 when the Aztecs fell to No. 15 California. All four on SDSU's losses have come at the hands of top-50 ranked teams.

After Tuesday's senior celebration, SDSU will conclude league play when it will travel to Fort Collins, Colo. to take on Colorado State, Wyoming and Air Force on consecutive days, beginning on April 18.

Julia Wais
Wais is a four-year letterwinner for San Diego State and holds the distinction of being a five-time Mountain West Player of the Week. The Goeppingen, Germany, native has competed in first singles the entirety of her junior and senior seasons. Wais currently has a 16-13 overall record and sits at 11-9 in dual matches this season. During each of her seasons on The Mesa, Wais has posted winning records in singles action.

Alicia Aguilar
Aguliar is also a four-year letterwinner for SDSU and was named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year in her inaugural campaign on The Mesa. The Aztecs reached the Mountain West Championships finals twice in Aguilar's career (2011-12 & 2009-10), with the senior contributing singles wins in both trip's quarterfinals and semifinals. The Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, native was ranked as high as No. 65 in the nation, that distinction coming during the 2010-11 season.
