FORT COLLINS, Colo. - San Diego State had two singles players and one doubles tandem earn all-Mountain West Conference women's tennis accolades, the league announced Wednesday morning in Fort Collins, Colo., the site of the 2011 MWC Championship.

The Aztecs' top two singles players, Julia Trunk and Julia Wais were honored, while SDSU's No. 1 singles duo, Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison, were one of seven pairs recognized. The awards were selected by the conference's nine head coaches.

Trunk, who played in seven of San Diego State's eight Mountain West contests, went 5-2 at the top position and finished the regular season with a three-set victory over nationally ranked and MWC freshman of the year Lucia Batta of UNLV. This is the second straight season in which the senior was voted as one of the league's top singles players and Trunk is one of four repeat winners.

Wais joined Trunk on the 14-person all-singles squad after she went 7-1 in Mountain West Conference action. The sophomore played at No. 2 singles for all but one match and in that lone exception, Wais posted a three-set victory over Colorado State while playing at No. 1. A native of Germany, Wais finished the regular season with seven consecutive wins. This is her first career award.

Ellison-Ellison earned their second straight all-Mountain West doubles award after going through the league rotation with a 6-2 record. The sister tandem played all eight matches on the featured court and won their last match over fellow all-doubles honorees Aleksandra Josifoska and Nives Pavlovic of UNLV.

Trunk, Wais, R. Ellison and S. Ellison, along with the rest of the third-seeded San Diego State women's tennis team will begin their quest for the program's second MWC Championship title on Thursday at 10 a.m. MT against sixth-seeded Wyoming.
