SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's tennis team has been honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for their academic efforts this past school year. The eight-member team earned the ITA All-Academic Team award.

For a team to qualify for the team academic award, a program must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or above on a 4.00 scale. All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2011 and spring 2012).

Earlier this month, Kristin Buth and Roxanne Ellison were tabbed as ITA Scholar-Athletes. Ellison received the award for the fourth time in her career while Buth was a first time honoree.

Since 2002, San Diego State has had its student-athletes honored by the ITA 18 times. This year's All-Academic Team award is SDSU's third since 2009.
