Women's Tennis set to host SDSU Fall Classic I
Sept. 27, 2017
SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's tennis is set to begin its fall slate as it plays host to the SDSU Fall Classic I this weekend. The annual tournament runs from Friday, Sept. 29, through Sunday, Oct. 1, and features seven teams including the Aztecs.
The list of opponents visiting the Aztec Tennis Center this weekend include returners Grand Canyon University, Cal State Northridge and Loyola Marymount, cross-town foe San Diego, the University of Texas-El Paso, and conference rival San Jose State.
The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. each day with two doubles brackets and a doubles round-robin event. Five brackets of singles play will immediately follow doubles competition.
The Aztecs return four from last year's team, including seniors Jana Buth and Paola Diaz, and sophomores Berta Acero and Mia Smith. The team also welcomed four newcomers this fall--transfer juniors Magda Aubets and Jennifer Moinard, and freshmen Abigail Mulbarger and Nnena Nadozie--who will compete for the first time on the Mesa this weekend.
Admission to Fall Classic I is free and fans are encouraged to park in P7 on the corner of 55th Street and Montezuma Road. Parking is $2 per hour and is always required in P7. The Aztec Tennis Center is located just beyond Tony Gwynn Stadium, SDSU Softball Stadium and the Aztec Aquaplex on the northwest edge of campus.
