T&F Wraps Up Competition at Cherry & Silver Invite

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Kristen Brown finished fifth in both the 60-meter hurdles and the pole vault to pace the San Diego State track and field team Saturday at the Cherry & Silver Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M.
Brown qualified for the finals in the 60 hurdles after taking sixth in the prelims with a time of 8.440 seconds out of 40 entrants. She then finished fifth in the finals at 8.46. Brown, who won both the 60 hurdles and the pole vault at the 2013 MW Indoor Championships, also was fifth (out of 44) in the pole vault, clearing 13 feet, 2 ¼ inches (4.02m).
A day after breaking her own school record in the weight throw by more than two feet, Jasmine Burrell came in fifth out of 39 in the shot put with a toss of 50-06.00 (15.39m).
Allison Reaser, meanwhile, took seventh in the 60 hurdles in 8.59 after running the fourth-fastest prelims time of 8.434 earlier in the day.
Nicole Oudenaarden (12th, 42-08.25 (13.01m)), Brittany Gonter (15th, 42-00.75 (12.82m)) and Ariel Oliver (17th, 40-09.50 (12.43m)) each finished in the top 17 in the shot put, while Holly Waseloff tied for 20th in the pole vault at 12-02.50 (3.72m).
The Aztecs ended the day with a seventh-place showing out of 20 teams in the 4x400-meter relay as the quartet of Oudenaarden, Maderia Toatley, Reaser and Janice George ran a time of 3:48.39. That was the 10th-fastest indoor relay time in program history.
SDSU is back in action this weekend (Friday and Saturday) at the Howie Ryan Invitational & Multi's in Houston.
