Ashley Henderson Named Mountain West Athlete of the Week

Senior Ashley Henderson was named the Mountain West Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week following her performance at the New Mexico Team Invitational on January 27th. Henderson has won the weekly award twice in two tries this year (also Jan. 16) and now has two indoor awards for her career and five MW athlete-of-the-week awards overall (also three outdoor accolades).

Henderson won both the 60-meter dash and the 200 to lead the Aztecs at the New Mexico Team Invitational. Henderson, who remained undefeated on the season in individual events against collegiate competition, won the 60 in a time of 7.30 seconds (second place was 7.43). The altitude adjusted time of 7.32 ranks as the fastest in the MW this year and tied for the 18th fastest in the country.

More impressive was Henderson's victory in the 200, running a time of 23.16 (No. 2 was 23.58). The altitude adjusted time of 23.23 is the fastest in the MW this season and the ninth fastest in the country.

For her career, Henderson is a four-time first-team outdoor USTFCCCA All-American and a two-time first-team indoor USTFCCCA All-American. She owns three individual school records (indoor 60 and 200, outdoor 100) and ran a leg of the fastest 4x100-meter relay in program history.

A Look Back at the New Mexico Team Invitational
