Track & Field hosts Aztec Invitational this weekend

No. 25 San Diego State track and field hosts the 39th annual Aztec Invitational Fri., March 24 and Sat., March 25 at the AzTrack at SDSU Sports Deck. All throwing events during the two-day meet will take place at UC San Diego.
The meet features 17 collegiate programs and numerous club, National team and unattached athletes, and includes open, Paralympic, high school and invitational competition.
The Aztec Invitational kicks off Fri., March 24 with open throwing events at UC San Diego in La Jolla, Calif. The open track and field events are atop SDSU Sports Deck on Friday, which includes a men's wheelchair 100 and 200. The high school, invitational and open distance carnivals close out the day at San Diego State. The invitational and high school sections will wrap up the annual meet on Sat., March 25.
Approximately 2,500 athletes and 102 teams have registered for the meet. The collegiate programs competing include San Diego State alongside Air Force, BYU, Cal Baptist, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Colorado, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, Riverside City College, San Diego, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, UNLV, USC, Utah Valley and Wisconsin. Athletes from 16 additional universities and junior colleges are registered for the meet, in addition to high school athletes from Calexico (Calif.), Carter, Castle Park, Great Oak, Hilltop, Kearny, Mar Vista, Marshall Fundamental, Mater Dei Catholic, Olympian, Patrick Henry, Rancho Verde, San Diego and Santa Margarita.
Admission for the meet is $5 per day, and is free for students and children under age 12.
