Aztec T&F Competes Coast-to-Coast This Weekend

SAN DIEGO -
San Diego State track & field competes coast-to-coast this weekend, with 15 Aztecs headed to the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia and the remaining group competing at UC Irvine's adidas/Steve Scott Invitational. The Penn Relays run from Thurs., April 27 through Sat., April 29, and the Steve Scott Invitational is on Fri., April 28 and Sat., April 29.
SDSU opens the Penn Relays on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Andrenette Knight's performance in the 400-meter hurdles. The 4x100-meter relay is at 1:15 p.m with Starlynn Singleton, Simone Glenn, Micha Auzenne and Ashley Henderson running the race. At 4 p.m., Singleton and Lisa-Anne Barrow will compete in the long jump. The 4x400-meter relay will be run by Monique McPherson, Knight, Tyra Lea and Glenn at 6:25 p.m. Thursday. The day ends with Christine Kent representing SDSU in the 5,000 meters at 8:45 p.m.
On Friday, Je'Neal Ainsworth kicks things off with the triple jump at 11 a.m. Rachel Alesi will throw the discus at 11:30 a.m., while Barrow, Rochene Smith, Lea and Glenn run San Diego State's first relay of the day, the 4x200-meter relay, at 2 p.m. The shuttle hurdles are slated to go at 3:25 p.m., with Kassidy Ellis, Sierra Brabham-Lawrence, Auzenne and Knight competing in the event. At 3:40 p.m., Henderson will run the 100-meter dash, preceding Auzenne and Brabham-Lawrence in the 100-meter hurdles at 4 p.m. Melody Harris concludes the Scarlet and Black's appearance in the Penn Relays on Friday with the javelin at 4:45 p.m.
Twenty Aztecs will be competing at the adidas/Steve Scott Invitational, hosted by UC Irvine, on Fri., April 29 and Sat., April 30.
SDSU's pole vaulters, Taylor Alexander, Marissa Berry, Rachel Craft, Sara Curran, Bonnie Draxler and Katherine Magill, kick off the meet at 2 p.m. At 4 p.m., Kira Moreland, Hannah Taylor and Jelena McNown compete in the long jump, and Freja Liljedahl is on tap for the hammer throw at 4:30 p.m. Cassidy Towner, Elaine Ribeiro, Lily Seynaeve and Angel Bucci cap the day with the 5,000 meters at 8:20 p.m.
On Saturday, Cindy Flores, Angela Wilson and Cali King run the 800 to start the day at 12:10 p.m. and Alexis Williams throws the shot put at 12:15 p.m. Lakin Hatcher and Madison Gipson are slated for the 400 meters at 1:40 p.m. At 3 p.m., Hannah Taylor competes in the high jump, while Jasmine Young appears in the 400 hurdles at 3:10 p.m. and Anushi Desai throws the discus at 3:15 p.m. Hatcher runs the 200 at 3:50 p.m. while SDSU's distance runners, Seynaeve, Ribeiro, Towner, Wilson, King and Mary Kunigan are registered for the 1,500 at 4:40 p.m.
